How using Reflection and Intention can help you Build a Healthier, Happier Season or Year

As you close the chapter on a year or quarter, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the journey—celebrating wins, learning from challenges, and setting a meaningful path forward. Reflection allows us to pause and recognize our growth while understanding areas that need more attention. This practice not only honors our efforts but also sets the stage for creating a fulfilling future.
It’s important to note that intentions are not the same as goals. Goals are specific and action-oriented, while intentions reflect the broader mindset or energy you wish to carry. Sometimes, we set goals without rooting them in deeper intentions, and by February, those goals may already feel forgotten. Grounding your goals in clear intentions ensures they are meaningful and sustainable, keeping you motivated throughout the year.
By reflecting on your wins, you honor your progress and boost your confidence. Similarly, examining your challenges offers valuable insights and opportunities for growth. When paired with clear, actionable goals, this process can lead to a deeper sense of fulfillment, joy, and satisfaction. Goals transform intentions into tangible steps, helping you navigate life with purpose and direction.
I recently shared on my Instagram account some prompts to use to perform an assessment using the wheel of life. This is a tool I you use with my clients before we start a health coaching program.
I am providing you with prompts and steps to follow, so: Grab some pen and paper, a cozy drink of your choice and complete the assessment. When completed, you will get a clear picture of which areas are doing well and which ones may need attention; then you can build your intentions, goals and actionable steps around those areas.
Wheel of Life Assessment Prompts
Use this graphic as a visual guide and go over the 8 sections using the prompts below. Rate each area from 1-10; with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest level of satisfaction. After rating each section and writing down some insights, follow the next set of instructions to establish your intentions, goals and actionable steps for 2025.

Set Intentions, Goals, and Actionable Steps

After reflecting on each area, consider these steps to turn your insights into action:
- Set Your Intention: Choose a guiding word or phrase for 2025 that encapsulates your focus. For example, “balance,” “connection,” or “strength.” Let this word infuse all the areas of your life; personally, my word of the year 2025 is Fearless.
- Create Clear Goals: Identify specific, measurable goals for each area. Instead of saying, “I want to improve my health,” say, “I will exercise three times a week and prepare balanced meals at home 80% of the time.”
- Break It Down: Divide your goals into small, actionable steps. For example, if your goal is to exercise more, start with a 10-minute daily walk and build from there.
- Keep Motivation Alive: Track your progress, celebrate small wins, and revisit your goals regularly to stay aligned and inspired.
